Miller Family Barn Mural

$6,000.00

This mural was more than just a creative project—it was a journey of spirit and self-discovery. When I was approached to paint this , 11-foot tall, 35-foot wide mural, I knew it would get me out of my comfort zone. Every mural I take on pushes me to grow in new ways, and this one was no different. It’s always an uphill battle, but those challenges are what make the work meaningful. I always deal with a little imposter syndrome at the start of a new project, but by choosing projects of all shapes, sizes, and styles, I constantly push the limits of my comfort zone with each project.

For this mural, the client is religious, so I asked her to share her favorite Bible verses for inspiration. As I meditated on her words, one verse about the “Valley of the Shadow of Death” resonated deeply with me. The valley became my focal point, but I didn’t depict anything dark or ominous. Instead, I saw the valley as a metaphor for the struggles we face on our journey to achieve our aspirations or even the peaks and valleys I face while I paint this very mural. Life’s path is full of peaks and valleys—times of growth and challenge that shape us. As I painted, I reflected on how we must cross rivers and climb mountains to build better lives for ourselves. The mural became a symbol of perseverance and hope for me. I haven’t reached the mountaintop yet, but I can see my destination, it’s just over there. This piece, to me, isn’t just a landscape; it’s a reminder of the strength and resilience it takes to move forward, no matter the obstacles.
