What’s up! My name is Steve, but people who know my art know me as Stephen Michael Haas, SMH for short. I know that’s a mouthful but it’s fun!

Anyway, Art came to me at the age of 4 when I first scribbled scattershot all over a Batman the Animated Series coloring book. Then it was watching my Nana Max play sonic on the Sega Genesis while I’d fill Mead journals front to back with the titular hedgehog or whatever cartoon happened to be on the tube at the time. Cartoons chose me, there was never a flicker of doubt in my mind. I was put here to draw!

In more recent years my art has become a tool for me to self-soothe and create a deeper awareness of my mental health. So let’s throw that in the blender for good measure. My cartoons are about bringing my jovial inner child and my cynical overworked current self to pass the ball.

So to bring this full circle to this very website on this very bio. SMH is a world to get lost in just like the worlds I’d get lost in back when I could count my age on one hand. An imaginative, funny, and vibrant cartoony world where people can come to laugh, feel good about themselves, and maybe be a little introspective at the same time. I aim to make colorful funny cartoons to spread a message of mental health awareness.
